Introduction to Embedded Metadata

A Basic Explanation:

 

Traditionally, data about a digital image is stored separately in a central database which manages and delivers it to users.  With the advent of digital images, it is possible to encode data about the image (metadata) into the file itself.  This is called embedded metadata.
