Move DC Title to the Summary so that it can be more easily used for the image title. That also brings the key information from IPTC core together, for any one who uses IPTC Core for preliminary cataloging. For example, several programs allow the addition of IPTC core metadata when importing images from a camera. |

Add a display field for Location Shown to the image record. Suggestions are the IPTC Core location set, for the sake of interoperability with many photo apps, or VRA Core 4 Subject Geographic Location. |

Add a field for Genre/Format headings. That could be VRA Core 4 Image / Work Type |

Export-Import Script |
Export IPTC Core along with the fields on the VRA panel. We wouldn't have to add as many IPTC fields to the panel. We can use VRA fields on the panel in cases where IPTC would be a force fit. People using the VRA panel could still export any IPTC Core fields they use. |

Include IPTC Core in its own tab so that people can use IPTC to supplement the VRA panel. |

Add VRA Image Description. IPTC Description (DC Description) is being used in the Summary. Alternatively, move the Summary to be directly under the Image record so that the Summary fields can be used to extend the image record. |

Add VRA Image Subject. The IPTC Keyword (DC Subject) uses both commas and semicolons as delimiters. LoC subjects often include commas, making the Keyword field hard to use. Quotes preserve the commas as punctuation in CS4 and CS5, but are not an ideal solution. Alternatively, move the Summary to be directly under the Image record so that the Summary fields can be used to extend the image record. And continue to live with the delimiter problem. |

Remove all fields, such as dc:subject, that is part of the IPTC palette because they do not write new data correctly and cause an error when creating templates |

Work Inscription
a field for inscriptions either on e.g. the back, bottom or the sides of the work, or inscriptions on housing materials e.g. envelopes or boxes, could be of general use.

Work Preservation info
General or detailed? Conservators would probably like to have a whole set (a panel) of even more specific fields for describing conservation related issues and they would probably also need to describe the image of the work in much more detail.

Image Quality
a field for describing the image quality of the reproduction is probably not something people would generally find useful. But it would still be great if you could insert links in the custom fields in VRA.

Allow for synchronization between VRA and IPTC/XMP DC fields, if people want to make the metadata visible through common applications, maybe especially between VRA and IPTC Description. And you could maybe also consider to allow for synchronization from VRA Creator and Date (work) to IPTC Description as you have implemented in the KBDC panel... But it's really difficult to know if it would be a good idea, especially given the many different ways that you have shown that tools implement these field and add labels, it may not be that beneficial after all... |
